Susie Wolff is one of my idols, so getting the chance to see her speak live at the Montreal GP, and picking up a copy of her book along the way, was an absolute dream come true. I knew of Susie Wolff in years past, but came to admire her so greatly with her entry into F1 Academy. Her drive, her passion,and her dedication to supporting women in motorsport makes her such an inspiration.
2026 was the first year I ever attended an F1 race in person, despite having grown up watching the races on TV with my dad. I wish I’d had a Susie in my life as a kid to inspire me and to show me like others like me could race. To this day, despite my love of racing, I still haven’t made it into even a go cart, though I dream of being able to get behind the wheel and feel that exhilaration.
To round out an unforgettable Grand Prix weekend, Mr. Worn Pages and I learned of an event Susie was hosting nearby in support of her new book release, and immediately got ourselves tickets. As she comes across online and within her book, Susie was poised, well spoken, genuinely sweet, and hilarious. Hearing her story, which she dives further into within her memoir, was immensely moving.
Though it took me a few months, I finally finished her book only a few weeks ago and I can honestly say I was blown away. In a time in my life where I needed to be inspired, Susie’s story of struggle and perseverance, of finding her passion, of fighting against adversity and all other manner of odds, she came through, not only to triumph, but to dominate and pave the way for thousands of women to follower her. She’s a true champion, and singularly focused. Her meticulous attention to detail and her thoughtful insistence on making her own way in a difficult world shines through the pages. Her story is not an easy one, but it’s truly captivating.
Even if you’re not a racing fan, Driven is such a personably written memoir, it’s so worth the read. Susie’s story is one we can all learn from. Even if we all can’t make it to F1, there’s so much to takeaway from the ups and downs she shares in the book—it’s not about where she ends up, but the journey along the way. I hope you’ll all enjoy this book as much as I did.
