Author Talk and Reading: Emma Donoghue

Earlier this year, I attended an event with Emma Donoghue with the launch of her new book, Akin. I wrote about it on the Ottawa Writers Festival. To read my full review, click this link and you’ll be redirected to my post on the OWF blog.

I wanted to share a few pictures with you from the event. Emma was an absolutely delightful individual.

Hosted by the Ottawa Writers Festival, the talk was well attended. It was thrilling to get the chance to meet such a prolific author and to spend some time hearing her speak about her memories and her writing experience.

During her talk, she was so animated and full of life. She kept the audience rapt throughout, humoring us with stories of raising her children and memories from her own childhood, growing up as one of many kids in her family.

A few things shone through: her deep love of her family, her incredible passion for writing, her wry sense of humour and quick wit, and her vibrant personality.

I’ve lent out my copy of Emma’s latest novel, but I’ve heard only good things and I can’t wait to dive in myself!
