But to join their ranks, she must complete an apprenticeship with Maxantarius Farlione, a handsome and reclusive fire wielder who despises the Orders. The Orders’ intentions are cryptic, and Tisaanah must prove herself under the threat of looming war. But even more dangerous are her growing feelings for Maxantarius. The bloody past he wants to forget may be the key to her future… or the downfall of them both. But Tisaanah will stop at nothing to save those she abandoned. Wow, this book is nothing like I expected it to be…It’s so much better! I’ve seen it floating around on Bookstagram and seen numerous adamant recommendations that highlight how great of a story it is. I’ll be honest, I held out for so long because of the cover and how much I disliked it (shallow, I know). But at long last, I downloaded the audiobook on Audible and I haven’t looked back.
The audiobook is read by Dan Calley and Esther Wane and they do an incredible job of lending voices to the two protagonists, Tisannah and Maxantarius. It was easy to get swept away in the stories and their enthusiastic and dedicated narrations bring this world to life.
At the heart of the narration is the story itself. Broadbent has created such a detailed and incredible world in this book with so many twists and turns, it’s impossible to keep track. I’m already mostly done listening to the second book in the series and the world building just grows and grows as the story progresses. Her world is filled with a beautiful magical system that is unique depending on character race and place of origin. There is no one set way to weild the magic and that’s what makes this story so incredibly complex and unique. The possibilities of what can be done and are expansive and the characters have an entire world open to them.
While I’ve read other books by Broadbent, they have not captivated me as much as Daughter of No Worlds. It’s beautiful and an absolute must-read for those who love fantasy and romantasy books.
Happy reading!
