Synopsis:
The long path to the throne has only just begun for Aelin Galathynius as war looms on the horizon. Loyalties have been broken and bought, friends have been lost and gained, and those who possess magic find themselves increasingly at odds with those who don’t. With her heart sworn to the warrior-prince by her side and her fealty pledged to the people she is determined to save, Aelin will delve into the depths of her power to protect those she loves. But as monsters emerge from the horrors of the past, dark forces stand poised to claim her world. The only chance for salvation lies in a desperate quest that may take more from Aelin than she has to give, a quest that forces her to choose what-and who-she’s willing to sacrifice for the sake of peace.

There are just no words to describe how much I love and have been swept away by this series. The early books are absolutely no indication of incredible the Throne of Glass series becomes as it unfolds. Continuing with multiple perspectives and introducing even more characters to the fold, Empire of Storms builds and builds as the tension, romantic and political, rises and explodes in this book. I absolutely could not put it down and stayed up far too late into the night so I could get to the end of this book.

We’re really starting to see the breadth of Aelin’s cunning and power throughout this story as she begins to reveal what truly makes her the Queen of Terrasen. There is so much that the readers, and even the characters in the book don’t know about her, but she reveals her plans and secrets in marvellous and devastating ways. Despite her secrets, Aelin is a character who is really never anything but genuine. It’s funny how a character can be so full of twists and turns, yet is only ever her true self. Now that she has shed the masks of her past, she is rising into her own as a monarch of strength and devastation.

We also get to know characters like Rowan, Dorian, Manon, Elide, and Lorcan more intimately than before. For some, they are who they have always been and are rising to new heights of their power and prowess. For others, they are on paths that are entirely new to what they ever thought for themselves. Theirs are all journeys of discovery. Their worlds are changing beyond comprehension and they will rise to the occasion or they will die. The stakes are beyond high as they must face their own demons and discover what they will become in the new age that is dawning.

I can’t say enough how much I am loving this series. I have two books left and I just can’t wait. I was tempted to stay up to start Tower of Dawn, but responsibility and reason convinced me otherwise. Without a doubt, I’ll be diving into these tonight.

Happy reading!
